Goal-Setting for 2018

Happy New Year (or Happy New Year’s Eve)!

Last Sunday I skipped the blog post. It was my birthday! On one hand, it would have been nice to have an “anniversary” blog post, but on the other, I wanted a day without any work whatsoever. So I chose the latter. I basically spent the day knitting, nursing a head cold and binge-watching “Nurse Jackie.”

I turned 49. One more step closer to the big one. So one of my goals this year is to make my health one of the top priorities, or at least a higher one than it was in 2017! This means more healthy eating and more regular exercise. I started the exercise yesterday.

However, my business will not slow down. So another big goal for me is time-management! I want to be a little more mindful of how I manage my time so I can work AND take care of myself each day. How am I going to do this? Well, I’m giving up a few other activities, and I’m writing things down in a planner, and…that’s about it. I have to figure it out as I go along.

I am definitely going to keep on knitting throughout the year. In November, I had a scare because I sold so many knit products (which is a great thing), that I didn’t have enough inventory to take me through December – with seven shows scheduled! So these last two months were a bit of a frenzy for me, working the part-time job, knitting furiously in my free hours, and working at holiday craft shows (probably the reason why I got a head cold on my birthday). Typically I didn’t knit as much in the summertime, but this year that break ends. I always want to have plenty of inventory!

Here’s something I’ll be working on today. It’s a commission from my dad…a late Christmas gift for my mom. I’ve forgotten how much I love stranded knitting. I guess I have time though. My parents are in Arizona until March. 🙂

Selbu Votter pattern by Terri Shea. Almost done with the iconic “Rose” that is found in so many Norwegian mittens. This is 2-ply fingering weight yarn (Rauma, Gammelserie) on size US1.5 needles. Extreme!

What are your goals this year? How do you go about accomplishing them? Share them in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!

Happy New Year!
